WE ARE  FINAL SAY WALES.

We’re a politically neutral organisation with one key objective, to allow the people of Wales to have their final say on Brexit.

We’re campaigning to strengthen our democracy in Wales and allow people to choose their own future. There’s no consensus on what Brexit means, so let’s put our faith back to the public and allow them to have their final say.

Whether you voted leave or remain in the 2016 Referendum, we all know that Brexit is the single biggest issue facing our country today. We need to heal the divisions, bring people together and ensure the people of Wales have their final say on Brexit.

"Boris Johnson is trying to suspend British democracy. Running away from accountability and scrutiny. This unelected Prime Minister is showing utter contempt for the people and their elected representatives. We must avoid a No-Deal Brexit and we must put the decision back to the people."

The Economic Realities of Brexit.

Every credible economic analysis shows that Wales would be poorer under all Brexit scenarios. That’s why it’s so important to ensure we put this question back to the people of Wales.

Under a ‘No-Deal’ Brexit, the Welsh economy would be devastated. Our trading relationship would end, meaning the UK would have to operate under World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules. This would mean the introduction of trading tariffs with the European Union, increasing the financial burden on our businesses and exporters.

What ‘No Deal’ means for Wales.

The Welsh Government’s own analysis states that No Deal would result in a 10% drop in economic output (GDP) for the UK. For Wales, this would mean a drop in our own economic output of 8.1%. This would devastate many of our important industries across Wales, including our agriculture, our manufacturing, our food and drink sector, our aerospace production, our automobile industries, our steel industry and thousands more. We cannot allow this to happen without Wales having its final say on Brexit.

The Welsh Government also highlights the damage that a No Deal Brexit would cause for Welsh jobs stating there would be up to 40,000-50,000 fewer people in work in Wales.

With more than 60% of Welsh exports going to the EU, we would be the most adversely affected nation in the UK should we leave without a deal. Any form of Brexit would decimate the Welsh economy.

Here are some figures to show the financial realities of what Brexit for Wales:

  • Brexit would mean every person in Wales would lose out on £743.11 a year, if the UK’s spending priorities don’t change after we leave the EU.[1]

  • Wales receives 5.8% if the of the UK’s economic affairs expenditure but 21.9% of the EU’s structural funds. Will the UK Government continue to provide Wales with this level of funding?

  • In total, Wales will have received £2bn of European Structural Funds from 2014- 2020, helping to invest in supporting youth employment, SMEs, urban development and connectivity.[2]Post-Brexit, this funding will be lost.

  • 20% of all Research and Development funding in Wales comes from the European Structural Funds. Compared to 2% from the UK Government.[3]There is no guarantee that this will be match funded by UK Government post-Brexit.

  • Working with the EU, Wales has attracted more than €83 million of Horizon 2020 funds (the EU Research and Innovation funding programme)[4]to help fund our world-class innovation centres across Wales.

The Way Forward.

Final Say Wales believes the realities of Brexit don’t match the promises made in the 2016 Referendum. Whether you voted Leave or Remain, the people of Wales have a right to confirm their decision and have their final say on Brexit.

Now is the time to place our trust in the people again. The Government has failed. The people must now decide our future.
